More information about your hotel

The Ascot Hotel – A Little Step Back in Time… in the Best Possible Way!

We’ve chosen The Ascot Hotel in Douglas for our Isle of Man stay, and whilst we’ll be the first to admit that the décor has a wonderfully quirky, “back to the 80s” feel in places, we actually think that’s all part of its charm!

If you’re looking for ultra-modern, grey walls, chrome fittings and a hotel that could be anywhere in the world, this probably isn’t it. The Ascot has character, personality and that slightly nostalgic feel that makes you smile when you walk through the door. Think traditional, comfortable and a little retro rather than shiny and corporate.

But where the Ascot really shines — and the reason we’ve chosen it — is in the things that matter most.

The service is outstanding, with genuinely warm, friendly staff who seem to go that extra mile for their guests. The food and breakfasts receive fantastic feedback, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and there is a lovely personal atmosphere that you simply don’t always get from a large chain hotel.

So yes… some of the bedrooms may transport us back a decade or three ,  but we’d much rather have a hotel with a little quirkiness, fabulous food and exceptional service than somewhere beautifully decorated but without the warmth.

For us, the people, hospitality, comfort and food win hands down.

It feels like a proper traditional seaside hotel — friendly, welcoming and full of character — and we think it will add to the fun of our Isle of Man adventure.

A note about accessibility

We also appreciate that accessibility is incredibly important and that everyone’s individual requirements can be different. If you have mobility difficulties, use a wheelchair or walking aid, or have any other disability or access requirement, please let us know before booking so that we can check your particular needs directly with the hotel.

Because the Ascot is a more traditional property, we would always rather check someone’s individual requirements properly than simply assume that a particular room or part of the hotel will be suitable.

So, in summary: a little quirky, definitely a touch retro, possibly a trip back to the 80s… but with wonderful hospitality, great food and service that gets people coming back.

And we rather love that!
