What is Les Misérables about?
Set in 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells the story of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who tries to rebuild his life after being released from prison. Valjean is determined to live a good and honest life, but he is relentlessly pursued by Inspector Javert, who believes that people cannot change. The musical spans several decades, exploring themes of justice, love, loss, and redemption, all set against the backdrop of political upheaval and revolution.
