Description
Columbia Road Flower Market & Covent Garden – Sunday 24th of May 2026.
Off we head bright and early to the rather famous Columbia Road Flower Market in the heart of the East End of London.
Columbia Road Flower Market opens every Sunday, with the street’s independent shops and cafés also trading. Located on the edge of the City, it’s close to Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Spitalfields — all full of character and charm.
A bit of background:
In 1869, Angela Burdett-Coutts established Columbia Market as a covered food market with hundreds of stalls. Alongside it, she built the Columbia Dwellings and a striking three-storey Gothic arch. Though the original buildings were demolished in 1958, remnants remain, including some railings in front of the nursery school. Later plans by her husband to connect the market to the coast by rail for fish sales never came to fruition, and the market closed in 1886. Today, the flower market is one of London’s most vibrant and beloved Sunday traditions.
