A Brick Lane Indian meal …. i recommend Preem Brick Lane, 120 -122 Brick Ln, London E1 6RL.
St Katerine’s Dock (10 minute walk). Bars/ Restaurants/ Docks
Jack the Ripper Museum.
Wapping… Two stops on the tube from Whitechapel takes you to Wapping – If you wanted to head over to Wapping (River Thames), Riverside pubs, Prospect of Whitby (smaller outside area over looking the Thames) Captain Kidd (large outside area over looking the Thames) Town of Ramsgate (smaller outside area over looking the Thames) The Town of Ramsgate, I think has the edge on the other two and I recommend their Chips/ Nachos or Ceasar Salad) all these pubs used to be my locals and all come with some super London history.
You could book dinner at Il Bordello, Wapping (also a local for me) – hussle and bussle in Wapping and a very popular Italian – please do allow time to be back ready for the tour on time.
In the other direction you would find Canary Wharf – plenty of shops / eating and drinking establishments heading via Limehouse – perhaps a wander around Limehouse Basin is also an idea. (The Grapes Public House) Sir Ian McKellen (owner) – (small outside area over looking the river) .
Perhaps you may like to head over to St Katherine Docks from Wapping High Street (10 minute walk from Wapping Station) with views of Tower Bridge you will find Smiths (was Smollenskys) – you must book – excellent Fish venue- incredible views, higher price bracket.
