Description
We’ve organised a lovely visit for you to the charming village of Highgate in North London including entrance and guided tour to the magnificent Highgate Cemetery.
We take the coach to Highgate Village and walk (15 mins down hill) through the beautiful Waterlow Park via George Michael’s bench to Highgate Cemetery.
Private group tours last around 75 minutes and take in the unmissable highlights of the West side of Highgate Cemetery with the excellent and highly knowledible volunteer guides. Take in the unmissable highlights of the spectacular West side of Highgate Cemetery, including the iconic Egyptian Avenue, the Circle of Lebanon and the Terrace Catacombs (which are opened exclusively for tour participants). Your ticket price includes admission to the whole Cemetery on the day of your tour leaving you free to explore this remarkable place further at your leisure.
While the West side of Highgate Cemetery boasts many dramatic architectural features, the tranquil East side is also well worth a visit to discover the stories of many of the fascinating people laid to rest here.
Children are allowed on the tour, but as the content is designed for adults, it’s natural that some may not find it entertaining. If your child becomes distracting to the rest of the tour group, we’ll ask that you distance yourselves from the group until they are feeling more receptive. The price is the same package price with travel for adults and children.
Important please note there are two flights of stairs with no handrail on the tour. Please also note that Highgate is at the top of a very steep hill. The walk to the cemetery via Waterlow Park is 15 mins downhill and the walk back to Highate Village up Swains Lane is a steep 6 mins walk.
After the tour you have free time to walk over to Hampstead Heath via Parliament Hill and Highgate Ponds. You could visit Kenwood House and the Spaniards Inn (highly recommend) or if you prefer not to walk you could return back to Highgate Village and sample the wonderful abundance of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops for example the Flask (where I understand Sting used to frequent- highly recommend).
