Wednesday 2nd – Thursday 3rd June 2027
Treat yourself to a wonderful two-day seaside escape staying at Britain’s only five-star seaside hotel. Enjoy the elegance of The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne, together with a visit to one of Sussex’s prettiest villages, Alfriston.
Day One – Wednesday 2nd June 2027
We depart from Southend-on-Sea at 9.00am, travelling via my usual pick-up points before our final collection in Grays at approximately 10.10am.
Our first stop will be the beautiful Polehill Garden Centre & Nursery, arriving at approximately 11.00am. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely lunch (at your own expense), browse the wonderful garden centre, gift shop and plants before we continue our journey at 1.30pm.
We expect to arrive in Eastbourne at approximately 3.00pm, where the remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy. Take a stroll along the elegant seafront, relax in the hotel, or explore the town at your own pace.
The rooms are all the same, group rates without an option to upgrade.
Our Hotel – The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne
Known affectionately as “The White Palace,” The Grand Hotel is Britain’s only five-star seaside hotel and has welcomed guests since 1875.
Occupying a magnificent position overlooking the English Channel, this iconic Victorian hotel offers timeless elegance, beautiful lounges, sea views towards Beachy Head and first-class service.
During your stay you can enjoy:
- Elegant Victorian surroundings.
- Indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
- Luxury spa facilities.
- Beautiful lounges and the famous Great Hall.
- Award-winning restaurants and one of Eastbourne’s most popular afternoon teas.
The Grand has welcomed many distinguished guests over the years, including Claude Debussy, Sir Edward Elgar, Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, and members of the Royal Family.
The hotel also enjoys excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, making it one of Eastbourne’s most highly regarded places to stay.#
Day Two – Thursday 3rd June 2027
After breakfast — which I know you will not be disappointed with! There is such a wonderful choice, including fresh fruit, cakes, a full English breakfast buffet and an extensive menu of cooked-to-order options.
We will be departing the hotel at midday, giving us the morning to make the most of the hotel’s facilities. You may wish to relax in the spa, enjoy the indoor or outdoor pools, visit the gym, or perhaps treat yourself to one of the hotel’s treatments before we leave.
We will then drive through the beautiful village of Alfriston, giving you the chance to see just how pretty this charming Sussex village is. Although lovely to see, Alfriston is quite small, so rather than spending the whole afternoon here, we will continue on to Beachy Head for a photo opportunity and the chance to enjoy the spectacular coastal views.
From here, we head over to the historic town of Lewes, arriving at approximately 1pm/ 1.30pm, where you will have plenty of free time to explore at your own pace. Browse the independent shops and numerous antique shops, wander through the characterful streets, or simply find somewhere nice to enjoy something to eat or drink.
Lewes is steeped in history, with plenty to discover during your visit. You may wish to visit Anne of Cleves House, explore Lewes Castle & Museum, or simply enjoy wandering through the town and taking in its historic buildings and atmosphere. Please note that admission charges to any attractions are not included in the tour price.
We depart Lewes at 4pm to begin our journey home, arriving back in reverse drop-off order, traffic permitting, at approximately 6.30pm in Grays, before continuing onwards to Southend-on-Sea for around 7.45pm.
